Article from Harrison Daily Times - FedEx Department Helps Hospice of the Hills Hospice House

Members of the customer service department of FedEx Freight enhanced the lives of Hospice House families and patients by donating over 30 FedEx Cares totes full of personal care and comfort items as their 2012 FedEx Cares project.

The FedEx Cares program is a program of volunteerism in support of United Way, in which FedEx employees give their time to help improve the community in which they live and work.  FedEx departments select their volunteer project.  106 team members o f FedEx Tech Connect which provides customer service for FedEx Freight participated in the project.

When asked how the team selected Hospice House as their project, they replied that several employees within their department have had first - hand experience with the Hospice House, by having a family member or loved one receive care at the House.

The FedEx customer service team chose to make up individual bags specific for patients, and bags specific for family members.  Among the items put in the patient bags were old Gospel DVD's, cold compresses, warm compresses and extra soft wash cloths.  Personal care items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs and brushes, shampoo and snacks were among the items in the family bags.  All items were packaged in very appropriate tote bags with the title of the program, “FedEx Cares”.

Hospice of the Hills works in partnership with North Arkansas Regional Medical Center and operates the only Hospice House in Harrison.  Hospice House offers a homelike setting where hospice patients may receive more skilled nursing care than they can receive at home.  It also offers much needed support to families and caregivers of hospice patients during this stressful time.

A representative from Hospice of the Hills said, "We extend our sincerest appreciation to the FedEx Customer Service team for their kindness and consideration".
